Are you planning a low-cost visit to Prague? Read this post from beginning till end. Prague has recently been voted as the most beautiful city in the world. This fact has brought Time Out magazine with a recent overview of capital cities. The reason could be simple and obvious as Prague has a lot of historic beautiful places which you can visit. People who are interested in travelling to Prague had already read about Charles Bridge and Prague Castle as these places are favourited not only by tourists but also Czech people. I would like to share with you my experience as a local and give you some tips on places where you won't be in the middle of crowds and you will not need to take out your wallet at all.

1. Vyšehrad

Medieval fortress on the rock is still at walking distance from the centre. What can you see there? Instead of many enjoyable views, you can visit a historical cemetery with famous people especially from Czech history including for example the grave of the first woman Milada Horáková who was sentenced to death in the early Communist regime, or worldwide known painter Alphons Mucha whose arts decorate the Astronomical Clock in Old Town Square. Don’t forget to make a stop in the pub on the hill and enjoy Czech draft beer and a gorgeous view of New Town.

2. Petřín

This hill was used for stone quarrying for building stone bridges over the river in the past. You have two options for how to get to the top. The first one is that you can use the cabin, which is the fastest way, or if you are a hiking lover you can simply go there on foot. And what will you see on the top of the hill? You can visit the mirrors museum or Petřín Lookout Tower which was built according to the Eiffel Tower in Paris. You can also continue your walk and see Strahov Monastery with a gorgeous view of Lesser Town.

3. Prague Castle

Prague Castle is the largest castle complex in the world, so it shouldn’t be missed out on my recommended places. Did you know that you can walk in an area of Prague Castle and its surroundings for free? You can visit a beautiful garden where you will see the Signing Fountain or take a look at Saint Vitus Cathedral as the front part of it is for free. Just check out the opening hours of this beautiful historical monument and enjoy! My recommendation is to go there in the evening, you will keep away from crowds.
