Traveling isn’t for everyone. This phrase may refer to long distance trips, short trips, or trips in general. While there are several people around the world who have not left their home country, it may be for other reasons.
First, financially some people find it hard to validate spending so much money on a week or so of vacationing. Traveling from coast to coast in the US can cost upwards of around $400 (340€). Traveling around Europe costs about half that but depends on the season. These aren’t cheap flights, and don't take into consideration accommodation, food, living expenses, kids, etc. So, yes, financially, traveling can be expensive and the funds could go elsewhere.
Second, they do not have enough time. Those who travel most likely are able to take a few days off from work. There are some people who just can’t afford to take enough time off. As a result, they may travel locally. Staycations are time-efficient, easier, cheaper, and more comfortable. Even traveling locally some find unnecessary because well… what’s the point? To see something you can search a photo of seems a bit redundant. Time is something you can’t get back, and some just feel that traveling wastes that precious time.
Lastly, is fear of traveling. It is not all sunshine when it comes to traveling. Missed flights, fear of accidents, and other circumstances make traveling more of a hassle than a vacation. Outweighing the benefit, some may choose to stay close to home.
